Free Space Backgrounds: 30 AI-Generated HD Images of Nebulae, Galaxies and Planets
30 free space backgrounds in full HD, made with AI for BigFoto: glowing nebulae in violet, teal and crimson, spiral galaxies seen side-on, the Milky Way over dark hills, ringed gas giants and their moons, sunrise over the curve of the Earth, and auroras over alien horizons. They are artistic images, not astronomical photographs.

Questions about these space backgrounds
Can I use these images for free?
Yes, for personal and commercial projects. All we ask is a link back to BigFoto.com; the box at the top of the page has a credit link you can copy.
Are these real photos?
No. These backgrounds were made with AI (Stable Diffusion XL 1.0) for BigFoto, then picked and checked by hand. Every file is marked as AI-generated in its metadata (IPTC digital source type), and the photo viewer labels them too. Our real photos are in the other collections.
Are these real telescope images?
No. They are artistic images made with AI, so you will not find these exact nebulae or planets in a star atlas. For real astronomy images, NASA and ESA publish their own.
